The Fallen Angel is one of my most devastating, challenging, and yet, most proud pieces I have ever made. For the most part, I’m a digital artist who learned traditionally and since leaving my academic studies, I have yearned to return to my traditional roots. About a year ago I decided to give a new technique a try and I made the mistake of trying it at a very large scale.
The Fallen Angel measures at 30″x24″ making it the largest painting, digital or traditional that I have completed thus far and also has the most detail I have ever added in a traditional painting. The reason it was devastating and challenging mainly arises when you try a new technique that you aren’t very familiar with. My senses told me to try it at a very small scale, my ego said to go large and thus, the challenges await.
